EH charges your credit card 24 hours before account expiration for the auto-renewal. That means 48 hours before the new service starts. There is NO EASY WAY to get a refund if you call them 1 day before expiration. I've tried to post this on their message board - guess what - the message did not pass moderation :) Maybe they do have a good matching algorithm, but their business ethics is really bad. (That is if you are able to find their number - I found it on BBB.org)
