It’s all in the icons. Once you learn their meaning, you can navigate easily. AmericanSingles is a solid site for online dating, but does not have the membership of some of the higher ranked sites.

Dating Pool Potential:

Spark Networks owns both AmericanSingles and JDate and both sites are formatted in a similar way. However, site statistics are different: there are fewer members online at any given time on AmericanSingles, indicating a smaller dating pool since this is a general site as opposed to a niche site. According to Quantcast, an open internet ratings service, AmericanSingles’ visitors are more likely to be male, 56 males to 44 females, 45% earn over $60,000 annually, and 73% are over the age of 35 as opposed to JDate’s younger, more affluent visitors. Once you’ve posted your profile, you can easily track responses to your profile, instant message, send and receive e-cards and see “flirts” to get a better sense of the dating pool. But you’ll have to pay the membership fee to read, write and respond to email.
